Golden Snub-Nosed Monkey
(Rhinopithecus roxellana)
is a species of monkey of the family Cercopithecidae (old world monkeys) found in mountain forests of central and Southwestern China. These monkeys are characterized by their golden bodies and blue faces, adults are sexually dimorphic as females are smaller than males and have different coloration. Like most monkeys they live in small groups, ranging from 5-600 individuals. they spend most of their time in cold forests 1-3000 m above sea level where they live off of lichen and other food and huddle up in groups to sleep. This species is threatened by habitat loss and is currently endangered with less than 15,000 individuals left.
